Kazuma Jaws Tow boards to the next level with Ian Walsh

Matt Kinoshita has been designing and shaping tow boards for Ian Walsh for over 8 years and has some of the most amazing Jaws specific board designs. This year has been the best winter I have seen in 5 years which has allowed us to make a major breakthrough in the 60+ foot wave riding category. Matt and Ian have a few new "top secret" board designs that have been working amazing in HUGE surf. Jaws is no place to mess around and Ian has his equipment dialed in.
Chaz Kinoshita is the lucky beneficiary of Ian's hard work and has boards that are already proven to be magic at Jaws. If you watch the footage of Ian or Chaz, you can see the confidence they have in their equipment.

Kazuma tow team getting ready for tomorrows giant swell

Chaz Kinoshita 13 yrs old (left) Joao Marco Maffini 13 yrs old(center) have been training all last week with Alfredo Villanova, getting ready for tomorrow's giant swell. Alfredo is the Kazuma tow team trainer and is working wonders with the two Maui super groms.
Earlier in the week, Matt Kinoshita and Ian Walsh fine tuned Ian's Jaws boards and redesigned his Future tow fins for "Big Monday" Matt and Ian will be on it tomorrow with the Magic new boards. Joao and Chaz will probably watch but if it is less than 30 feet, they will sneak in for a few.

Ian Walsh at the 2009 Eddie Aikau opening ceremony

Here is Ian Walsh at the 2009 Eddie Aikau open ceremony. Tomorrow may be the day that they run the Eddie at the bay. Ian has a good shot at winning as he has been warming up in all the swells that we have been having and his timing has been spot on. Ian is my top big wave protege, I have spent 15 years grooming him for this day. Good luck Ian.

Ian's board is 9'6" x 19.5" x 3.25" classic and is based off the Jaws paddle in boards we have had for years. We ride them smaller and narrower than most people because we get much better control and the boards feel much more comfortable taking off late and inside the boil.

Another one from Ian, Sexwax

Ian Walsh is the soul of Kazuma. Ian has been with me from the day he moved to Maui 14 years ago. Ian and his brother Luke were like my 2 sons. I passed all of my knowledge to Ian and our Big wave surfing adventures are ledgendary. More of those stories later. Now I am making boards for Ian's little brothers DK and Shaun.

Ian is now sponsored by Oneil, Lost and Red Bull. We are still the best of friends.

Ian's surfboard models are my best sellers and are ridden by surfers all over the world.
